What is ZALUD?
ZALUD is designed for those who appreciate a modern, better approach to aperitifs. ZALUD is made with Sake that has been naturally fermented with organic Spanish rice and blended with citrus fruits and botanicals from the Mediterranean for a delicious, refined drinking experience. A wonderful new umami aperitif for the conscious and curious drinker.
What does ZALUD taste like?
You’re in a for a treat! Our Saffron-Orange flavor blends luxurious, honeyed saffron flavors with umami nuances and bittersweet orange aromas from the Mediterranean. Ginger-Lemon Sake features bold and aromatic ginger with lemon juice and Sake’s tropical fruitiness.
I am looking for an aperitif, drink or cocktail with less alcohol. Does ZALUD fit the bill?
Yes, our refreshing spritz versions, i.e. ZALUD Ginger Spritz and ZALUD Saffron Spritz, only have approximately 5% ABV and 7% ABV, respectively.
Does ZALUD Spritz taste similar to other well-known spritz?
Well, we are biased and we think our all-natural aperitivos taste more refreshing and unique with their sake umami flavors blended with refreshing citrus and exclusive botanicals from the Mediterranean. Inspired by the harmony of Japanese craftsmanship and the coastal essence of the Mediterranean.
How do I make the perfect ZALUD Spritz?
It’s easy to make and the ratios are always 50/50 (ZALUD with Tonic or ZALUD with Ginger Beer).
- ZALUD Ginger Spritz: Take a white wine glass, add several ice cubes and blend 100ml of Ginger-Lemon with 100ml Ginger Beer or Kombucha Lemon, stir gently and garnish with lemon peel and ginger stick (approx. 5% ABV).
- ZALUD Saffron Spritz: Take a white wine glass and fill with a couple of ice cubes. Simply add 100ml of your ZALUD Saffron-Orange and 100ml Tonic Water, stir gently and garnish with orange peel (approx. 7% ABV).
What ingredients are in ZALUD?
Here’s one to brag. ZALUD only uses the finest ingredients for the production of its Junmai sake: organic Spanish rice from the Ebro-Delta, filtered water, Koji and yeast. We blend our sake with citrus and botanicals from the Mediterranean to offer this unique drink.

What does ZALUD mean?
ZALUD comes from the Spanish word Salud, meaning health as well as “Cheers” when toasting to each other. We thought this name really reflects what our aperitif is all about, a healthier approach to aperitifs that you can enjoy with friends!
What does the “Z” logo mean?
The “Z” icon takes inspiration from the Japanese kanji 乙 (otsu), which symbolizes uniqueness and distinction, just like our drink.
What is the shelf life of ZALUD?
ZALUD is best enjoyed within a year after purchase. Once opened, keep refrigerated (like white wine) and the great flavors will last you a couple more weeks.
